Hello everyone,

My name is Christine Scuderi, and I am the Girls Pee Wee Lacrosse Commissioner. I hope everyone has had the opportunity to download the Sports Engine app so that coaches and parents have a direct line of communication with one another regarding practices, games, cancellations, and any other changes/chats that need to occur with each age group level.

Registration:

Girls

Please note that the boys’ and girls’ lacrosse registration is a different registration site. When registering more than one child, boy and girl, you will need to log out of one or the other before registering a child of the opposite sex. The site will ask if you want to register another child after completing the registration process…if you are on the girl’s page and need to register a child on the boys side…DO NOT click on register another child. Please visit the boy’s registration site individually.

Practice: Canton Central School Fields

We plan to start the season the week of April 8th with Tuesday, April 9th as our first day of practice. This may change based on field conditions and you will be notified should changes be made. All children must be registered to participate!! Practices will be held on Tuesday and Thursday of each week for PreK/K and 1/2 players. 3/4 and 5/6 will have practice on Tuesday and Thursday evenings with the potential for another day of practice. Additional practices for the older groups will be held at the coach’s/players availability and discretion and be based on field conditions. Practice will be held between 6pm and 7:30 pm on Tuesday and Thursday. Younger groups typically practice between 45 and 60 minutes.

Field/Facility usage:

With ongoing (but hopefully soon to be completed) construction on the Canton Central Fields we will be able to utilize the schools field space. At this time school administrators have been very clear about not being allowed to park behind the middle school/high school at this time.  Please know that no pets should be on school grounds.

Equipment:

Your child must have a girl’s lacrosse stick, lacrosse goggles or helmet and mouth guard to participate (molded is preferable). Cleats and/or proper footwear is highly recommended. Balls will be provided for each practice. **A helmet is not mandatory equipment for girl’s lacrosse**

Tournaments/Game Play:

Local game play and entry into tournaments may occur and information on those will come as information becomes available. Game/Tournament play will be based on several factors including but not limited to parent/player interest and willingness to play, local league numbers, and coach availability.

Girls Watertown Patriot Youth Lacrosse League: Grades 3/4 and 5/6 ONLY

Grades 3/4 and 5/6 will have the opportunity to participate in the Watertown Unity/Patriot League on Monday evenings. League play will begin early in May and typically runs thru mid/end June (about 6 nights of game play. This is a great league and a great opportunity for our girls!! Once registration has been completed another email will follow to determine interest for each age division.

Clothing/Gear:

Once registration is complete, we will look to provide vendor information for purchase of pinney and other canton lacrosse gear that parents and players may be interested in purchasing. **At no time are purchases from the vendor a requirement.

Contact:

To contact me direct: email is the best and most reliable. Please include ‘girls’ lacrosse’ in the subject line. My email is: scuderic@canton.edu

Cancellations:

Unless warranted by weather, or unplayable field conditions, all practice cancellations will be made by your coaches. Please direct all practice cancellation questions to them. The app is the best place to communicate any weather related practice/game changes. Weather related determinations will be made by 5pm. Please be respectful and understand that your coaches do have other job responsibilities and they may not have the ability to easily communicate to all team members before that time.

I am looking forward to another great season of lacrosse and am thankful for all the coaches who donate their time to help all our participants.

Christine
